As a growing ENR Top 500 firm, Larson Design Group is searching for a senior leader and the Vice President of our Transportation Division. Applicants should have an inspiring personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as a liaison and facilitator between various stakeholders (marketing, technical, upper management, support staff and client representatives) involved. Furthermore the candidate should be accountable, result-oriented and responsive to our customer's needs and concerns. This position is available in any of our LDG office locations.

Duties:

  • Leadership and Management of the Transportation Division across the corporation including four main service groups; Highway Design, Bridge Design, Bridge Inspection and Construction Inspection Services.
  • Implementation of yearly business goals as well as the multi-year Strategic Business plan for the Division.
  • Organizational development and team-building to create a national transportation practice.
  • Supervises/oversees department directors with responsibility for achievement of sales, revenue and profit goals.
  • On a weekly basis, monitors divisional financial performance.
  • Monitors staff utilization and makes recommendations to department directors regarding adjustments to staffing levels.
  • Directs the overall divisional sales functions to include monitoring sales metrics, directs the focus of high-level business development, provide strategy for individual client pursuits.
  • Develop, establish and nurture partnerships with new and existing clients.
  • Develop and implement effective quality control procedures.
  • Develop succession plans and strengthen mentoring programs.
  • Build customer confidence in LDG's capabilities and services in the customer arena.
  • Develop and implement initiatives and pro-actively identify, qualify and prioritize all potential business opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to grow the Division in terms of total revenue, profitability, service offerings and geographic presence.
  • Initiate, support the preparation of and review proposals. Participate in interviews and presentations as applicable.

Lead LDG's Transportation Division through:

  • Market sector research, strategy and intelligence

Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar technical degree is preferred.
  • 20 years Transportation industry experience, including 10 years' experience in project and/or department management with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience with P3 and Design Build project delivery.
  • Experience in Innovative Transportation technologies in Intelligent Traffic Systems, Connected or Autonomous Vehicle Technology preferred.
  • Experience with Aviation, Multi-modal Facilities and/or Mass Transit systems a plus
  • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) is required
  • Broad experience with public sector work including city and county agencies as well state Departments of Transportation.
  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to plan and manage geographic growth initiatives in a multi-state setting.
  • Project management, staff management and business development experience is required.
