LARSON DESIGN GROUP, INC. (LDG) is offering the following full-time opportunity in our Morgantown, WV, Beaver, PA or Wexford, PA office for a motivated, self-starter to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of Land Surveying and Construction Staking for Oil & Gas, Industrial, Residential, Commercial and Utility Projects. The Professional Surveyor candidate will be providing guidance and direction to the field crews, preparing survey related documents including legal boundaries, topographical surveys, utility easements, construction staking as well as performing survey calculations to resolve property boundaries and right of way.


  • Coordinates and directs survey, environmental or geotechnical crews to ensure that projects are completed within technical, project, budgetary, and time constraints.
  • Reviews projects for compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Ensures a smooth interface with other disciplines within the company and project team.
  • Develops scopes and fees for small and moderate size projects for specific discipline.
  • Prepares complete and accurate permit application packages.
  • Prepares clear and concise written correspondences for internal and external circulation.
  • Applies and participates in LDG standard QA/QC procedures.
  • Recognizes opportunities for new projects and assist PM's with developing leads into new business.
  • Provides work task time estimates to assist PM's with proposal preparation.
  • Develops a network of professional contacts through involvement in thought leadership, civic, and technical organizations.
  • Responsible for reviewing calculations and drawings for correctness and completeness.
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of project and overall completeness and quality of work.
  • Directs, mentors and guides team members and staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating submittals, RFI, and other project components.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering or another field specific to the discipline.
  • EXPERIENCE: 5 years plus BS Degree. Direct experience in the Oil & Gas market is desirable.
  • LICENSE or CERTIFICATION: Position requires a valid Ohio Professional Surveyor's License. Additional states (PA, WV, VA, NY) are desirable.
  • SOFTWARE: Advanced knowledge of Autocad Civil 3D and Surveying software. Experience with Terrestrial LiDAR and UAV is desirable.
  • TRAVEL: Occasional overnight and/or local travel.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.


  • Possesses the ability to read and interpret technical documents to ensure compliance of contract documents.
  • Upholds the ability to complete all levels of work as required to meet project objectives.
  • Manages specific discipline of a multi-disciplined project.
  • Maintains client contact and provides regular progress reports.
  • Maintains sufficient workload distribution for direct reports.
  • Conducts staff evaluations, recommend promotion and/or disciplinary action.
  • Assists the Project Manager in meetings and presentations.
